HOVERAir X1 PRO & PROMAX

It's new and I've only used it a few times, but there can't be a better out-of-the-box solution for this type of B roll content.

I recently purchased the X1 Pro and have been very impressed with its overall performance. The drone is easy to fly, responsive, and delivers excellent image quality. The photos and videos it captures are sharp, vibrant, and exceeded my expectations for a drone in this class.

One of my favorite features is the variety of intelligent flight modes. The hands-free and automated shooting options make it incredibly easy to capture unique angles and professional-looking shots without needing advanced piloting skills. These features are especially useful when traveling or taking photos in scenic locations.

The X1 Pro has proven to be a reliable and enjoyable drone to use. It performs as advertised, is portable enough to take on trips, and provides a fun flying experience for both beginners and more experienced users.

The only drawbacks I have encountered are the noise level and battery life. The drone is noticeably louder than I expected, which can be somewhat distracting in quieter environments. Additionally, the flight time per battery charge is relatively short, meaning extra batteries are almost a necessity for longer photography sessions or extended outings.

Overall, despite those limitations, I would still recommend the X1 Pro. Its image quality, intelligent flight features, ease of use, and reliable performance make it a great product and an enjoyable drone for capturing memories and aerial photography.

I ordered the the X1 Pro Max controller bundle with the insurance plan. I saw Danny MacAskill using it and was sold! Package came in under 7 days which I really appreciated. I spent about a week reading and watching YouTube to get familiar. Unboxing was a lot of fun and the bundle is very comprehensive. I thought during the first week the drone might be complicated to operate, but I was wrong; it's easy in manual mode! I really appreciate all of the good tech reads and such on the Hover site! I don't know if other drone companies bother to go in depth regarding R&D and technical explanations, but I sure do really dig that Hover has done this; it's very eye opening and helpful! I'm very impressed with my initial flights, despite a few hiccups. Sometimes the drone and beacon don't pair initially and I have to restart them both. The initial pairing at my desk I thought worked, but when I got out into the wilds, it wasn't paired, and it took lots of trial and error to get the two paired again. Now, the beacon generally will recognize my Hover, but the sync between the two could be quicker. I love the vid quality and am experimenting with the ND filters. The ND filter feature is huge in my opinion! Thank you for that option! I've used the drone for dirt biking, mtn biking, spacial shots, indoors, etc. Very impressed with all modes. Indoor capabilities are super cool! Even without adjusting the cycling mode preset, the Hover followed me in tight woods single track while mountain biking! I'll have to experiment with switching it to tight mode. Same for dirt biking narrow single track. I did look at DJI as an option, but wasn't as impressed as I was with Hover! I really dig the folding design and the dihedral cant to the fan arrays!! Bravo for thinking outside the box on that one! I think Hover is the only one doing this...? And just the fact that the fan arrays are encased in HEM and not just "sitting out there" waiting to be broken is huge! That feature alone has already saved the Hover's life once during a mishap which I'll explain in the negative part of the review.

OK, some negatives now. As mentioned above, some pairing issues. Also when not at my house, I have to turn off my cell service in order for my phone to pair with the Hover. Slow pairing with Hover and Beacon. Is there a preferred order when turning them both on? Today while mtn biking I went to shoot in cycling mode, and Hover gave an alert to hold still while launching. Tried pressing the launch button again, and after the count down, the Hover flew erratically off trail, with me chasing it, and it got stuck on a branch and thankfully immediately shut down! Grateful that the crash detection turned it off. Since it didn't stray to far, I was able to visually locate it, and didn't have to use the find me feature. Recently while trying to use Bird's Eye and walking away from Hover for about 30 seconds, I turned around and was dismayed not seeing Hover waiting for me to land it. It had landed itself on the dusty ground instead. Not sure why. Battery had plenty of charge left. I know Hover isn't waterproof, but hopefully the dusty aspect of landing didn't compremise Hover. I wiped everything off and flew a couple of more times, and when I got home I gingerly used compressed air to blow off the fan propellers/motors and through the openings of the fuselage. Still not sure why Hover did this; I was wearing the beacon at the time, and don't fly without wearing the Beacon. When flying in the desert I will know pack a can of compressed air.

Still, overall, this product is well thought out and very impressive! That's also the impression my friends offer after watching the footage! I wished for this technology back in 2011 and now it exists! Bravo Zulu Hover Air!! Thank you

So far everything is acting as advertised. Done some practice flights, event a cycling one. The unit behaved well in a pretty steady wind. If it wasn't for the wind noise caught by the beacon, you wouldn't know it was windy from the video.
