FAQ

1. How do I charge the Beacon?

The beacon can be charged using the cable included in the package. You can also connect it to the joystick and charge both together via the USB Type-C port on the joystick.

2. How long does it take to charge?

The Beacon has an input power of 5W and takes about 60-90 minutes to fully charge. The JoyStick takes around 75 minutes to charge. When charging the Beacon & JoyStick together as a bundle, it takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. For faster charging, it's recommended to charge them separately.

3. How long does it last?

A fully charged Beacon (when connected to the device without JoySticks) lasts about 120 minutes.When using the Beacon with JoyStick A or multiple JoySticks, battery life extends to about 150 minutes. However, if used with a smartphone display, the battery life may be reduced to around 60 minutes.

4. What kind of signals are used between the Beacon and the flying camera?

The signal between the Beacon and the flying camera uses regular-band and narrow-band Wi-Fi, allowing for a 1km live transmission distance.

5. When using the Beacon and JoySticks remote control, the maximum flight range is 1 km. But how can I know how far they've flown? Is there a distance display?

Currently, there is no distance display, but we plan to add this feature in the future. If the drone exceeds the range, the video feed will start to lag.

6. Why does the update process get stuck at 100% during installation, causing the OTA update to fail?

7. What features of Beacon are currently compatible with the HOVERAir X1?

The following features are currently supported on the HOVERAir X1:
*Video transmission
*Instant status updates

*Audio recording (coming in the next firmware update)

Please note:
*The HoverLink feature and Return to Home function are not supported on the HOVERAir X1.
*When using two-handed control mode, live preview is not available on your phone screen.
*The maximum flight altitude and distance are significantly lower than those of the HOVERAir X1 PROMAX.

8. Are the recorded audio and video files automatically merged, or do they require manual processing?

Yes, they are automatically merged. No manual processing is needed—simply download the file with one click via the app.

9. Where does the flying camera return to when using the Return to Home function?

  • In Follow Mode: The device will return to a location near the Beacon with a positioning accuracy range of 2 to 10 meters. Users will need to manually land it or allow the Beacon to take control.
  • In non-follow automatic modes: By default, HOVERAir will automatically return to the takeoff point.

Instructional video tutorial request

The HOOVER drone is my first ever drone and I purchased the cycling package.
However I also ordered and received the joy sticks so I can use it that way as well.
My only difficulty is not being able to find clear step by step instructions for use of the joysticks with the beacon, use with the beacon and or phone etc. I feel a bit frustrated having to rely on you tube video’s created by people who happen to address these points. It would be great if you had a step by step instruction video for people who are new at using these items.

Good quality components - Lose star because Printed Manual is a Joke

I was impressed by the quality of the beacon and joysticks. Well made and they seem durable. I pretty much had to figure out how to use it on my own through trial and error and some amateur videos on YouTube. The included manual has pages that are slightly larger than a credit card and TINY writing. It is also very light on content, not much in tips or tricks. Could not find a PDF version on the website's Support tab either. That would really be welcome, so I can print it out in a readable font.

Beacon and joystick

Beacon and joystick give additional 4 options to fly hoverair promax. You can fly with beacon, beacon plus stick (motion control), joystick and joystick with iPad or phone. Add to that auto mode and ability to control from iPhone or iPad only makes it 6 ways to fly for the maximum flexibility. However while the connection to the iOS devices is smooth and perfect every time , Android devices have issues. While I can change hover settings on Samsung ultra 23, I cannot use phone for manual flight nor I can access the onboard photo albums. Probably it is because of non unity of android platform where some phones do not work with it.
The icing on the cake would be to have Smart Control feature like on hoverair X1 for gesture control.
